Savings Calculations for Small Packing

Explanation of the bottom 5 fields

Reduction of employees per year: Because time can be gained by using the small pack system, the amount of employees can be reduced. This amount is given here. This amount depends on the value entered in the 'Reduction of labour in percents' box.

Gain on labour costs per year:
This fields shows the amount of reduced employees, as described above, multiplied with the labour costs, that are filled out at the top of the form.

Amount of packages per year: This is the amount of kilo's product per year divided by the average weight of a package.

Gain per package: This is the gain PER single package, calculated with the gain in grams and the average price per kilo product.

Total gain on packages: The total gain, solely on packaging

Explanation of the already filled out values

  • A company of 5 persons weighing has been taken. Per person a package is prepared every 30 seconds. In one year this is: 120 per hour * 8 hours a day * 250 days per year = 240000. For 5 persons this is 1,200,000 per year.

  • Most packages are 500 grams.

  • The average price per kilogram of tomatoes per year is EUR 0.90

  • No values for labour gain have been entered. Realistic values are 5 - 20 percent per year

  • Average labour costs are EUR 20,000 per year

  • Gains of 10 to 30 grams van be achieved with a small pack system. An average value has been taken.
